WHY JUMP OUT OF A PERFECTLY GOOD AIRPLANE?

  • All your trepidations are put into context during an almost unbelievable perspective of the planet. Everything is peaceful; it's a far more meaningful way of seeing the Earth, and the strong wind props you up as it passes your suit and harness.
  • Skydiving spellbinds your thoughts to the serenity and power of the experience; it guides you from the worries, irritations and stress of everyday life.
  • Nothing is quite so inaccessible as it was the day before, and your mind pops to the reality you like to exist.
  • Many of the most interesting people on the planet are those that skydive. You have the ability to meet them and potentially emerge as one of them.

WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT?

You need to be 18 years of age to skydive in most states, and it's actually even 19 in Alabama. We're sorry, but relative consent isn't adequate to book a skydiving experience near Baltimore. As far as we know, the oldest individual known to skydive was 103 when they took the jump; even though everyone must be physically capable, there is no upper age limit.

HOW LONG WILL MY FIRST JUMP TAKE?

It can easily take all of three hours to complete your skydiving journey from beginning to end, but it's fitting to plan ahead for up to half a day. For those taking the AFF (accelerated freefall) class, the additional instruction entailed will take the remainder of the day. Any individual starting in a Baltimore Skydiving School network area program will need to enter into an approximately 6 hour lesson in the facility for schooling and step-by-step training. For a tandem, the student needs very little training. Substantial differences in instruction time make the experience last longer for AFF students.

CAN I GET PICTURES OF MY SKYDIVE?

Depending on your Baltimore Skydiving area network location of choice, stills may be attainable at no additional charge. Virtually any location has the gear and staff to provide a DVD, and many offer still pictures in addition.

CAN I TAKE MY OWN CAMERA WITH ME?

Yes! There are many ways to chronicle your experiences at Baltimore Skydiving network centers. Taking photographs for the skydive is entrusted with the professionals, but take photos of them from the ground previous, during, and following their skydive. Many of the most fun-filled pictures are of students putting on their jumpsuit. Plan out the occasion to get photos which will keep storyline memories of their skydive.

WHAT DOES SKYDIVING FEEL LIKE?

Most people equate freefall with the sense of falling in an elevator. Against public opinion, it is nothing at all like that. In truth, it feels a lot more like gliding than falling. Much more like the slow and silent kind, the parachute flight to landing is peaceful and awe inspiring.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE PARACHUTE OPENS?

Quickly switching direction, you'll travel back up for the moment shortly after your parachute opens. The initial chute will open up, followed by the primary canopy. Once gravity takes control once again, the following step will be a slow-moving and steady decline to the landing zone. The tandem instructor will delay their turn up until the drop zone is clear prior to getting you down for landing in a sitting position.

What happens if I fail to remember to open my parachute?

Here's what happens if this occurs. First and foremost, just relax. Every single rig is packed with a reserve parachute just in case the main is not released. We assure your security. Each rig is inspected, maintained and packed by a FAA licensed chute rigger. Your Automatic Activation Device is equipped at all times as a reserve system. Once you hit a precise low altitude your AAD sensing unit will respond at once and release the backup parachute for you. After activation, you will be ready to land safely.

Is this a long process?

The length of your flight time as well as jump time varies day to day From the amount of wind to when you pull your parachute, there are a number of elements that can change the duration of your skydiving in Baltimore experience. Two predominate sections of your day will be the primary focus in your thrill ride. The most amazing part of your skydiving in Baltimore experience is the free fall, and this is followed by the serene and scenic descend to the landing zone. For a full 60 seconds you will fall from the aircraft right before making your 5-8 minute descent under your fully extended canopy.

Will the landing sting?

Certainly not. Our skydiving centers use only the gentlest landing maneuvers in advanced training or with amateurs. This is to help make sure each skydive is the safest it can possibly be. During the first years of skydiving, landing was far more complex. Even so, the cutting-edge parachutes of today slow down the participant enough to complete a smoother landing.

Am I going to get scared?

Possibly ... perhaps not. You might feel butterflies fluttering around in your stomach ...this is very natural. Despite what you experience in anticipation, you'll really love your skydiving experience in the Baltimore area. The fun is too overwhelming to succumb to a bit of stress. You may wind up leaving with a skydiving fixation ... we're just sayin'.

Should I put on certain clothing and maybe bring something?

What to bring? What to dress in? We advise taking a camera with you to get photos before you start and once you're done, binoculars in the case that you will have spectators tag along, as well as a hat or sun glasses. Only the clothes on your back are permitted on the aircraft though, and your harness, suit, etc. will be supplied to you by your tandem master. Apparel you do not care to get messy is most suitable to dress in, and please take note to have closed toe shoes! Your tandem trainer will provide you with all of the training and skydiving components you may need for your jump. Ask your buddies and family to come and view your adventure from the ground!
